Energy efficiency

Small controls changes. A better-running building.

Start building tuning with operating hours, setpoints and the trends already in your BMS.

A building can operate differently after occupation from the assumptions made during design. Actual occupancy, internal loads and operating hours are useful starting points for a tuning review.

Check time schedules against how the building is used. Review simultaneous heating and cooling, sensor readings, control deadbands and after-hours operation. Use trends and site observations together before making changes.

Agree each change with the building operator and design adviser where appropriate. Record a baseline, make controlled adjustments, and compare performance under comparable conditions while maintaining ventilation, comfort and equipment requirements.

Commissioning and tuning evidence may contribute to Green Star or NABERSNZ work where it fits the project scope. Assessment, certification and ratings remain subject to the relevant programme and its authorised assessors.

Apply it to your project.

Every building has its own requirements. Tell us about your systems and project stage so we can discuss a suitable commissioning scope.

General information only. Verify current requirements with MBIE Building Performance (opens a new tab) and the project’s design team. Green Star and NABERSNZ requirements are set by their respective programmes.
