Measure clearly.
Calculate consistently.

Practical SI tools for commissioning checks. Each result shows its assumptions and method so it can be checked against the approved design.

CALCULATOR

Duct area & airflow

Check area, average velocity and the airflow associated with your project’s selected velocity limit.

Method and scope

A = πD²/4 or width × height; v = Q/A; Q at chosen limit = A × v_limit; D_h = 4A/wetted perimeter.

There is no universal maximum airflow for a duct area. Choose the velocity criterion from the approved design, acoustic limits and intended service; do not treat the example value as a rule.

The pre-filled numbers are illustrative examples. Replace them with measured values or verified project inputs. Calculations do not save data or alter equipment.

Use the clear air path after any internal lining. Only dimensions for the selected shape are checked when you calculate.
Only used when rectangular is selected. Only dimensions for the selected shape are checked when you calculate.
Only used when rectangular is selected. Only dimensions for the selected shape are checked when you calculate.
Actual volume flow at the duct conditions.
Illustrative starting value only; use a project-specific criterion.
