Measure clearly.
Calculate consistently.

Practical SI tools for commissioning checks. Each result shows its assumptions and method so it can be checked against the approved design.

CALCULATOR

Fan speed & density change

Map a known fan-curve point to a corresponding point at another shaft speed and density.

Method and scope

With r = N₂/N₁ and d = ρ₂/ρ₁: Q₂ = Q₁r; Δp₂ = Δp₁dr²; W₂ = W₁dr³.

Same impeller geometry and approximately equal efficiency at similar points. This does not predict the installed operating point or electrical consumption. Check the manufacturer’s speed limits and the actual system curve.

The pre-filled numbers are illustrative examples. Replace them with measured values or verified project inputs. Calculations do not save data or alter equipment.

Use measured shaft speed, not an assumed frequency conversion.
Check motor, bearing and impeller limits before changing speed.
Density for the known fan curve.
Density for the corresponding point.
Known point on the fan curve.
Use the same pressure basis at both conditions.
Shaft power, not motor electrical input.
